GATE RIVER RUN- AGAIN

My first organized run was Gate River Run 2003. I was hooked on running the minute I crossed the finish line.

This past Saturday was my 7th consecutive year running Gate. I hope I never miss a year. I want to be one of those kick ass little old ladies truckin' down the road. I would really rather wear out than rust out.

I didn't run the time I wanted to this year. My mojo was off.
Rushing off in the morning I forgot my music. No Biggie, Tupac or Dr. Dre to push me along the course.
I was left with the self doubting thoughts in my head.
I started out too fast and began to die a slow death at about mile 5. My game got thrown off when I had to make a quick dash into the porta pottie at mile 5.
I wish people would aim better in those things. Or maybe I should have looked before I sat down?
It was not pretty. I was wishing for a fire hose to blast me clean. Or perhaps a full body dip in some hand sanitizer?

One of the highlights for me was metting Charlie Engle. I suspect this guy is super human. You should Google him. He was at the Gate with friends to support CAF. While you are busy Googling, you should look CAF up also. It is a fantastic organization that supports challenged athletes...

Each year I love seeing Bill Rodgers. Of course he always beats me. I mean the guy won the Boston Marathon 4 times and is one of America's greatest runners ever!

I follow you blog... I've ran the GRR the last 5 years in a row. It's my favorite run of the year by far. We travel from Mid Georgia to run it!
